Who are we??

Welcome to Joybrick-homepages!

We are small home kennel of Kerry Blue Terriers (KBT) from Jyväskylä, Finland. We own three KBT's Vilma, Selma and Ziggy. KBT Alma is fourth member in our family living in co-home.

I decided to apply Joybrick-prefix after years of thinking. I passed Breeders course 2006, but idea of having own prefix arose after having first litter of KBT's 2009. Litter was born cooperation with Bright Spot.

Story of name Joybrick begun from word 'joy'. Joy is what dogs represent for me and word is also from Vilma's official name (Bright Spot Jacaranda Joy). We Finn's are crazy about Sauna. Word 'brick' came into my mind bathing in a Sauna, we have a brick wall there. Brick means also "old-fashioned or humorous a very helpful and kind person who can be trusted." These two words together is what my kerries are for me: joy and trustworthy companions.

My life with dogs started at 6 years of age, when we got our first German Shepherd, Santtu. He was self-confident and great dog. As a little girl I followed my dad to obedience, tracking and protection practices and competitions. This was a start of my enthusiasm with dogs. Santtu had two litters, and from his second litter we got his son, Coksi.

When I made a decision to have a dog of my own, I thought several breeds e.g German Shepherd, Bichon Frisé and Wheaten Terrier. In Finland we have Kerry&Wheaten Terrier Club and checking out information about Wheatens I found KBT's. It was love at first sight and after meeting kerries in real life I made a desicion to have one. And I haven't regret this decision.

I have been training agility and obedience with Vilma, Selma and Ziggy. Agility is our great passion and I'm competing with both girls, Vilma in third class and Selma in the second class. Ziggy will start competing later 2011. I'm coatching agility in Jyväskylä Agility Team.

Some times we attend also dog shows. Vilma is Finninh and Swedish Champion and Nordic Junior Winner 2005. Selma is Finnish Champion. Ziggy will attend some shows later 2011.

A dream to have offsping of Vilma came true summer 2009. Bright Spot U-puppies, three bitches were born. Everything went well with these puppies, so I decided to apply my own prefix. First Joybrick-litter was born in August 2010.

Joybrick will be breeding seldom high quality puppies. My aim is to breed KBT's of exceptional quality look, temperament and health.
